Factory restore an EA-3?
Has anyone been able to factory restore an EA-3 controller? Got one that has the red triangle on it. Tried the factory reset but that didn't work. When connected to a display, just has the Control4 logo on. Doesn't get on the network either. Tried to create a USB restore but that doesn't list the EA controllers.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
You are using the ethernet port which is closest to the left side of controller?
Yep but even without anything plugged in, I can't get it up. It has the red triangle on the front display. I've done the factory reset button a few times now.
Trying to see if there is a way to do a USB restore on it.
I don't know if there is a newer version of this which supports EA controllers.

Thanks. I tried that USB restore and no go. I've tried the network reset and that doesn't work either. I think its past its warranty period also so C4 probably won't do an RMA on it. 🙁

I thought I permanently bricked my EA-1 many times, but kept doing network, factory, and power cycles until the unit finally responded to the Image Updater.
Just seeing this. I actually returned it to the person who sold it to me. Talked to my C4 dealer and he said that tech support would probably want to RMA it anyway and since I didn't buy it from them, they didn't want to get in the middle of it. Back to my HC800 for now.

I just got bricked my EA-1 last night. I tried to keep the factory resetting and power cycle as you did but without any success. It started last evening when the controller has frozen. After reboot, it worked for a while then an hour later has frozen again, I checked it still replied for the ping. I connected then with composer pro and checked but it was working fine while I was connected. Today morning was frozen again, but after reboot, the controller was not recovered. I checked the LED on the front and beside the blue power LED the red triangle with an exclamation mark LED was blinking. After doing the factory restore returned the exact same state.
Do you have any suggestions I can try?
From the behavior you describe, it is hard to tell if it is a hardware, OS, or project problem that is causing your crashes.
Are you sure your project isn't corrupt?
When the controller is working, I would make a backup of the project, clear the project, and then wait overnight. If by the next morning, the controller hasn't crashed with an empty project, I would suspect something is wrong with your project and perhaps delete the last driver you installed after you reload the project.
If you are able to rule out project problems, and after a fresh reboot or factory restore the controller is responding to ping, I would suggest trying the Image Updater to restore to an earlier version.
