I managed to access my system which was running on 2.5.3 and made some minor changes and all great
I then followed some of the guidance on here and upgraded my controller to 2.9.1 but now I cannot access on 2.5.3 or 2.9.1
I tried removing all versions on my computer and repeating the original methodology but no success.
The OS on my controller is now 2.9.1. I tried editing the scipt, but that did not seem to work
Anyone any ideas how I can fix this
Is there anyway of writing the 2.5.3 version directly to my HC800
I tried the image writer but it does not offer that version, only more recent versions

Exactly what I feared might happen to my HC800 which is currently on 2.5.3 I've asked for help for months and now offered to pay for assistance no one replies. Trying to go from 2.5.3 > 2.10.6 so I can get newer things working especially a Roku via IP so I can ditch DirecTV.
Seems if I want it updated I'll have to now pay a local dealer to do it and of course it'll be locked down after that.
Yes, 2.5.3 is the recovery firmware on that unit, if you think you messed up, start over and perform a factory reset on the unit. I'll save you some trouble looking on google, on the back of the unit there is a paperclip pinhole, remove power from the unit, push a paperclip in that hole (make sure you feel the depress of the button) plug power back in, and wait 35 seconds and it will auto perform a factory reset. Then using the Deff Guide on the site, run through the process and you will be able to get back into the unit. The hard part is going from 2.5.3 to something more modern, you can do it, but its a bit of a chore, I would go 2.9.1 then 2.10.X if that is your goal. Have fun, I have done it multiple times in the process of jacking and playing with my unit, and I'm serious when I say the hardest part is going from 2.5.3 to 2.9.1. If you can, get the base director running on 2.5.3 and use a USB upgrade to go straight to 2.9.1 then use composer to go higher versions if that is your goal.
For anyone else messing with this thinking you can do it, if you can't use google as a friend and can't follow the def guide that has been made here, pay a dealer as this is out of your scope of skills and ability.
I managed to get composer 2.5.3 to talk to my controller that still has 2.9.1 on by editing the pathscript.
All seems to work ok but I have lost most lighting scenes and announcements on composer..I guess a compatibility as composer a different version. No issue as still there on the touchscreens
I have managed to connect Alexa too
I now need to get my composer up to 2.9.1 too... That will allow me to upgrade drivers and then upgrade to 2.10.3 and intercom anywhere
This forum helps massively..but still confusing until you get the hang of things.
Once I know what I am doing I will try and write an idiot's guide.
If anyone has some simple tips to help me from where I am would be much appreciated.
download cPro from the download links page for 2.9.1 and use the def guide to get it talking to composer, that process is roughly 30-minute process.
