As for moving to a new PC, I just did this same thing (I switched to a new Windows 10 VM) and described the process in another post linked here. Essentially, you need to get Gary's jailbreak tool and copy over the 'certs' folder from the jailbreak utility on your old PC, then patch Composer on your new PC and install the certs to it using the tool.

Have you run Gary Newman's jailbreak tool? If not, go download the release that matches your Composer Pro version. Run the utility and follow the directions. Generate certs and patch Composer, then upload the certs to your Director. In that step, if the tool can't automatically grab your Director's root password, you will need to set one using the C4 System Monitor tool. Run it and right-click on your Director, then choose Terminal. Run the command "passwd root" and enter a new password. Use your new password in the jailbreak tool to upload the certs to the Director then reboot it.

If you have previously run the jailbreak tool, open it again and choose Update Certificates. This will renew  Composer Pro for another month.

Hi,

Yes, I am running the latest version and was hoping to get the dealer access back before using jailbreak as a last resort. Seems that might be a difficult process without getting a password. I will try and go down that route before jailbreaking. Do you have to go through the jailbreak process every time there is a new version?

Regardless, the jailbreak process is actually very easy. Probably much easier than convincing a dealer to give you their access (which is a breach of their contract with SnapAV). You do not need a dealer account at all. Get the latest Composer Pro and the matching jailbreak version and install them. It will even let you update your Director OS, which I did this week.

Jailbroken Composer Pro will work indefinitely; you just need to use the jb tool to renew the certs on your PC every so often when they expire. I haven't had any issues at all in the 6 months since I jailbroke the system.

When I mentioned resetting the root password in my previous post, that is local to the Director and totally unrelated to a dealer account.
